Things You Should Know Before Your First Bridal Appointment

Things You Should Know Before Your First Bridal Appointment

At Renée Grace Bridal, our team doesn’t stop at just helping you find the dress of your dreams. We love supporting our brides through every step of their wedding dress journey, which starts before you even set foot inside a boutique! To ensure you get a bridal shopping experience worth gushing over, here are a few things you should know before your first appointment.

Start Early

First things first, it’s never too early to start dress shopping. It can take several weeks to find an open appointment slot, and another several weeks to sort through hundreds of gorgeous options. After you do find the one, you can expect to wait several months for your designer to create and ship out your dress, and another few months for alterations, so we generally recommend that you start your search 10-12 months before your ceremony’s date. However, Renée Grace Bridal is one of the only salons where brides are able to work with their designer directly, which means you not only get a superiorly customized gown, but also a much simpler shopping experience, — one that starts and ends within our studio; no shipping wait-times required.

Bring Inspo

We know you have a Pinterest board bursting with wedding day inspiration, and we want to see it! Scroll through social media or visit boutique websites to collect images of gowns you’re loving and bring them along to your appointment to share with our team. This will give us an idea of the bridal look you’re envisioning, which can help us find you the wedding dress of your dreams much sooner.

Dress the Part

While trying on dresses, you will want to look as similar as possible to what you’ll look like on your wedding day. We recommend that you doll up just enough to confidently feel like your beautiful self, and wear nude, strapless undergarments to your appointment. Bright, bulky intimates can distract from the overall look and feel of the dresses, so opt for minimalist pieces to avoid any unwanted flashes of color peeking through your look. A touch of preparation can go a very long way.

Invite Guests

Inviting your loved ones to your fitting appointment is one of the best ways to ensure you’ll have a fun, exciting dress shopping journey. You will love having their invaluable opinions around to help guide you through your search, but with that being said, we recommend that you be careful about how many people you invite and consider how their individual personalities may each play out in this situation. The last thing you want is to end up stressed out by too many opinions.
